Zoom to Start its Phone service in India, gets Unified License from DoT

Video-conferencing giant Zoom is set to start its Zoom Phone service in India. The company has obtained a pan-India Unified License with Access from the government of India which now enables the company to offer cloud-based phone service to businesses in the South Asian country.

The Department of Telecommunications (Dot) issued All/PAN India, NLD, and ILD license to the company which has made its name largely for providing a video conferencing platform.

In India, Zoom Phone will offer its cloud PBX application to India’s multinational companies (MNCs) allowing them to have a unified communication platform to connect with their global network.

Upon receiving the license for its telecommunication service in India, Abe Smith, Head of International at Zoom, said:

“We are thrilled and proud to receive the unified licenses from the Department of Telecommunications. With Zoom Phone, Indian businesses and multinational corporations can support hybrid work environments, foster greater collaboration among employees and elevate the customer experience.”

“This important milestone underscores our continued focus in countries like India, a strategic growth market for Zoom, and our commitment to bringing new and innovative collaboration solutions to our users,” He continued.

Zoom phone in India will help businesses’ global connectivity

In India, more businesses are attracted to integrating video conferencing tools into their daily operations. Zoom Phone in India will only help to accentuate that aspect of the Indian corporate sphere.

Zoom Phone features

Zoom Phone is a cloud PBX application platform that allows enterprises to engage in a single communication platform in India to stay connected to their global workforce. Among its raft of features, the service has intelligent call routing, auto attendants, interactive voice response, shared line, call analytics, voicemail, etc. The sync across Windows, iOS, Android, and MacOS adds more to its versatility and productivity.

Zoom Phone operates its cloud PBX service in 47 countries including its latest India venture.
