Indian authority Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has published a new report on the latest telecom subscribers in the country. According to the authority’s latest data on wireless broadband till March 2025, Reliance Jio and Airtel topped the table while Vodafone Idea and BSNL trailed behind.
The report shows that Jio boasts a subscriber base of 465.10 million, the highest total in the country. At the second trial, Airtel with 280.76 million subscribers. The third-largest telco, Vodafone Idea, also showed a steady presence with a 126.40 million user base. Both Jio and Airtel occupy 79% of the total wireless broadband market share. The data was released by TRAI.

In total, India’s total wireless subscribers grew to 1,163.76 million in March from 1,160.33 million in February with a growth rate of growth rate of 0.28%. In general, both Jio and Airtel continue to lead the growth in India. Vodafone Idea, though, has remained steady; it’s BSNL that’s struggling to make a mark amidst fierce competition.

Also in the month of March, 13.54 million users applied for mobile number portability (MNP), reaching 1,118.94 million.
India is the world’s third-largest telecommunication market market and the country’s swift launch and expansion of 5G services have helped gain more traction in the country’s digital transformation
