Reliance has emerged to be the fastest mobile network in India in the second half (H2) of 2024. The report by Ookla shows that Jio led in data speed as well as 5G coverage. Here are the details:
Jio is the fastest mobile network in India in H2 2024
According to Ookla, Reliance Jio registered a download speed of 158.63 Mbps, the highest of all in the country, as Airtel trailed in second with a download speed of 100.67 Mbps. In the meantime, Vodafone Idea (VI) secured the third place with 21.60 Mbps of download speed.
Jio also topped the charts in terms of 5G speed with 258.54 Mbps and latency of 55 ms. Second stood Airtel with 205.1 Mbps download speed. VI has just started 5G, so it didn’t make it on the charts with 5G speed.

It’s also worth noting that Jio stood ahead of the rest in terms of 5G availability. The Mukesh Ambani-led telco boasted a coverage score of 65.66 while second-ranked Airtel attained 58.17. According to its official website, Jio has already attained an all-India 5G coverage.
In the meantime, Ookla report showed that Jaipur had the fastest download speed across India with a median download sped of 181.68 Mbps. Kolkata and Ahmedabad came at second and third respectively, while Mumbai recorded a download speed of 75.75 Mbps.
