Donald Trump announces mobile network and a T1 Android phone

Donald Trump, the current US president, has announced the launch of his mobile network (Trump Mobile) and a smartphone, T1. The move, though, seems quirky and could allow Trump to court favors with his conservative supporters. He believes that his mobile services will be affordable in the market against heavyweights such as Verizon and T-Mobile.

“A big part of what we’ve done … has been focused on technology for people who have been underserved, whether that’s been in crypto or anything else, but one of the places where we felt there was lackluster performance was in the mobile industry,” Donald Trump Jr. recently said.

The Trump Organization has also launched an official website for its mobile service. It currently trumpets a monthly plan of $47.45, which refers to the 47th and 45th terms of the president. Ever since his presidency began, Trump has been touting American-made products and stressed it as one key road to his theme of Make America Great Again (MAGA). The mobile service has been launched just when he has entered a fresh trade war with China, which has also impacted Apple US’s leading phone maker.

Do note that the US sells millions of phones, but almost all of them are manufactured abroad, especially in China. Trump is seeking to reverse that by starting with himself.

Trump Mobile’s $47.45 per month plan comes with unlimited voice, text, and data services. It also gives flexibility to terminate he contract anytime. Also, it claims to provide nationwide coverage as “the 3 nationwide phone service carriers.” The service will also provide telemedicine for its customers.

T1 Trump phone

The T1 phone, the phone from the Donald Trump Organization, features a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and possesses a 5,000mAh battery pack. It’s also got a fingerprint sensor and AI Face Unlock for security.

Other notable specifications include 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB storage, which is also expandable, and has a 50 MP main camera on the back and a 16 MP selfie camera. And it runs on open-source Android 15 software. The phone is available to book at $499.

Trump Mobile is Trump’s move to prove that manufacturing smartphones inside the US is still a great possibility. Time will tell how the carrier service and T1 phone business pan out.
