Starlink satellite internet is now available in the UAE

SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service is now available in the UAE. The service will bring connectivity to even areas where traditional cellular and fiber infrastructure aren’t available.

In August, the UAE’s telco regulator, Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, started work on approving Musk’s company to operate in the country. Now, it has gone live for the users.

Price of Starlink satellite internet in UAE

People in the UAE can access Starlink services starting at Dh 300 per month. The Residential Lite plan is slightly more affordable, at Dh230 a month. Businesses can acquire the wireless internet service at Dh 248 a month.

The company’s website has updated its availability on the map, including the UAE.

Starlink uses a constellation of low-earth orbit LEO satellites to beam internet services to devices on the ground. It’s seen as the most reliable and affordable way to deliver connectivity in areas where terrestrial networks are not available. The LEO satellite internet provides decent data rates with little latency.

The availability of Starlink is seen as meaningful as the country is drawn into a conflict involving Israel, the US, and Iran. Even if the ground infrastructures suffer damage, satellite connectivity will continue to serve users’ devices, ensuring communications around the clock.
