Juyeon Song, a researcher at Samsung Electronics, will now head a 6G Spectrum Drafting Group in the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Conference Preparatory Group for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2027 (APG-27). Song, who hails from South Korea, was conferred the role after a competitive process that involved candidates from six other countries.
The WRC-27 is scheduled for October 2027, which will likely identify new 6G spectrum bands. Song will play a prominent role in aligning the perspectives of the 38 APT member countries to devise a collective proposal. It’s a key development in the road towards 6G. Song will be of importance in helping bring favorable outputs for the APAC region at WRC-27.
APT is an intergovernmental organization that promotes communication technologies across the Asia-Pacific region in coordination with its member countries. The APT Conference Preparatory Group (APG) allows he region to gather its insights and have dialogue in the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC).

About Juyeon Song
Juyeon Song is a renowned name in the telco world. Previously, she served as the chairperson of the 5G Vision Group for the International Telecommunication Union Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R). She led the development of the global 5G vision. She later served as vice chair of Study Group 5 (SG 5), ITU-R’s terrestrial services group.
Now, Song will take an important role in overseeing the 6G spectrum dialogue across the APAC region.
