Despite its economic obscurities, Sri Lanka continues to revolutionize its digital landscape. The country’s mobile penetration has surpassed a whopping 150% while internet access has reached 52%, a state minister said recently.
While making the exciting revelations, the State Minister of Technology Kanaka Herath encouraged marketers to capitalize on the growing digital revolution and not be left behind.
His remarks came to urge the country to cash in on the growing digital parity. Sri Lanka’s 79% budget goes to print, television, and advertising, the minister said. He warned that this situation is proving to be a crucial impediment to Sri Lankan businesses from reaching their potential globally. He also referred to the government’s DIGIECON 2030 plan which aims to grow the country’s digital economy to $15 billion by 2023. It stood $4.3 billion in 2023.
