The US regulator Federal Communications Commission (FCC) shared its 5G and 4G coverage maps in November 2025. The report shows the extent of penetration of AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, and helps show which operators have the upper hand over the others.
FCC report shows coverage of US telcos
As the FCC report highlights, Verizon covers 60% of the US land with its 4G LTE network. The telco is followed by AT&T at 57% and T-Mobile ranks third with 45% of the country blanketed by its 4G LTE signal.
But that is also due to one telco paying more attention to the newer technologies, such as 5G. The report shows that T-Mobile trumps the other two competitors in both coverage tiers. In 35 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload speed, T-Mobile brags coverage of 27%. AT&T trails at 22% and Verizon is thrust to third with just 12% of penetration.
| Operators | 4G LTE Coverage | 35/3 Mbps | 7/1 Mbps |
| Verizon | 60% | 12% | 18% |
| AT&T | 57% | 22% | 32% |
| T-Mobile | 45% | 27% | 38% |
In the category of 7 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload speed, T-Mobile dominates with 38% of coverage across the US. In this segment, AT&T and Verizon cover 32% and 18% of the country, respectively.

What to conclude from this?
The FCC report highlights discrepant figures regarding coverage of telcos. While Verizon absolutely nails it with 4G, T-Mobile leads all in 5G coverage. However, it doesn’t matter much to users if a particular service is not available in their area.
Also, no telco has 100% coverage, and it’s impossible to have perfect quality service in terms of consistent coverage and high-speed. Fluctuations do occur, as well as network outages. Therefore, user experience among telcos varies owing to various foreign factors, instead of just land coverage percentage. Anyway, during a telecom network outage, it’s useful to place calls using the VoWiFi service.
But the FCC report does help shed light on the general coverage of US telcos across the country. It’s good to see that 4G still runs dominant while 5G continues to accelerate expansion across the nation.
