Banglalink’s payment service provider sub-brand “Neo PSP” has reached a deal with Huawei to develop an advanced digital payment platform, Mukto Pay. The product is aimed at further enhancing the digital payment ecosystem in Bangladesh, backed by the Chinese tech giant’s technological contribution.
The two formalized their agreement by signing the documents at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona. The agreement papers were signed by Johan Buse, Chief Executive Officer of Banglalink, and Tim Zhou (Xiaofeng), Chief Operating Officer of Huawei South Asia. The event had the presence of senior representatives from both organizations.
Huawei and Neo PSP to develop Mukto Pay
In this partnership, Mukto Pay will use Huawei’s mobile financial service platform to unlock high-volume, secure, and real-time cashless transactions. According to a presser, the platform will support electronic transactions with high-grade security and scalability.
Johan Buse, Chief Executive Officer of Banglalink, said, “At Banglalink, care for our customers and communities is at the heart of everything we do. Mukto Pay reflects our commitment to making digital financial services accessible to everyone across Bangladesh. We are pleased to partner with a world-class technology leader like Huawei to deliver a secure, reliable, and inclusive digital payments experience that enables more people to participate in the country’s growing digital economy.”
Tim Zhou (Xiaofeng), Chief Operating Officer of Huawei, South Asia, said, “We fully acknowledge Banglalink’s digital strategy and are pleased to support this initiative by bringing Huawei’s latest fintech technologies to the Mukto Pay platform. Through this collaboration, we aim to enable secure and scalable digital financial services that contribute to Bangladesh’s ongoing digital transformation.”
The name “Mukto,” meaning “liberation,” reflects Banglalink’s vision of making financial services more accessible to everyone and echoes its role in expanding mobile connectivity across Bangladesh.
The joint effort seeks to augment the country’s digital economy transformation. The word “Mukto” means liberation, which also suggests a departure from the traditional cash-based economy to digital. Also, the initiative has an objective to enable financial service access to unbanked and under-banked communities.
Bangladesh Bank has already issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC), and the launch of Mukto Pay will be achieved after the regulatory approval.
