BSNL posts INR 4,858 crore in operating profit, revival continues

India’s state-run telco BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has generated an operating profit of INR 4,858 crore cumulatively in nine months that ended on December 31, 2025. The figure is a growth of 105% in comparison to the stats a year ago. Union Minister of Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, has said.

To put this in context, BSNL has been on a progressive trajectory in recent months. The linear achievements owe to the government’s efforts, expansion, and steps up in 5G. The telco was under immense pressure from leading private telcos; now, it’s not only standing up to the context, but also taking a prominent space in the country’s bludgeoning telco industry.

“The financial results have been extremely encouraging… which means that BSNL now is really showing healthy cash flows,” Scindia said while addressing the media.

The telco posted a revenue of INR 17,705 crore in the first three quarters of FY 2026, which is a rise of 13% over the same period in the previous fiscal year.

The government has set a target for BSNL to reach revenue of INR 27,500 crore, which is 20% increase from the current state.

The company has around 100 million users and continues to see more subscriber growth thanks to the recent acceleration of 4G expansion.
