Verizon suffers nationwide outage
It’s said that Verizon’s latest outage is nationwide across the US. Many affected users have taken to social media to post about their experience. They said that their phones are showing SOS mode or Emergency Calls Only. It’s the types of situations you would see only when the carrier network is unavailable.
Verizon has not shared the possible cause behind the abrupt network failure. However, it could be due to a software glitch, a routing malfunction, problems during maintenance, or misconfiguration. One can also not rule out a cyberattack, though the chances could be slim in this case.
While Verizon tries to restore the network’s status, users can use VoWiFi (WiFi Calling) to place calls without a cellular network. We expect the disruption to be sorted out soon enough.
