BSNL taps into Quantum 5G FWA service for enterprises

India’s government-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. has launched Quantum 5G FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) service for businesses. The move could unlock a new way to assert its existence in the country where rivals Jio and Airtel have heavily dominated the mobile broadband landscape.

BSNL says that its Quantum 5G FWA is entirely targeted at enterprises, government bodies, organizations, etc., and not regular households. The service aims at delivering high-speed and high-quality internet service without costs for installation.

If it goes to plan, the service could lighten the national telco’s presence in the market, which has seen its growing irrelevance, as private companies continue to bolster their presence.

The telco has launched its Quantum 5G FWA service in Hyderabad and other select places. In the future, the company promises customers SIM-free service, improved internet speed, and easier deployment.

BSNL goes against Airtel and Jio, but with a different strategy

To compare, Jio AirFiber, and Airtel’s Xstream AirFiber are rolled out for urban areas where regular users access them mostly on their smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices. But BSNL is focusing on enterprises. The company is combining its Quantum 5G FWA with BharatNet to expand its service to more customers.

Another big difference for BSNL is that its service is SIM-free and relies on CPE devices that connect to a 5G network. It’s designed with home-developed technology under the theme of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative.

Going ahead, BSNL’s Quantum 5G FWA could usurp the market with broadband internet for enterprises. Especially thanks to its technological independence and simplicity of service nature, it could even go on to disrupt the market or redefine it.
